About

Laurie McArthur, creator and administrator of National Parks Australia website, presents his view of the national parks he visits.

Influenced by his experience of family camping, four wheel driving, surfing, diving, bushwalking, environmental photography and much more, Laurie captures an array of Australia's national parks in his stories and images.

Before I was borne, Mum and Dad went on a camping adventure in the horse and cart.

I turned one and started walking, on a trip from Melbourne to Adelaide in a 1926 Chev that would do only 26 miles an hour before the bigends started knocking.

Having camped in tents, vans, sheds, abandoned stockme's huts, old homesteads, under bridges and under the stars, I'm qualified to say that camping can be hard or pleasureable. Either way, outdoors is where I choose to be whenever I can.
